Engineer, when employed as a noun, carries the meaning of a schemer, a person who
designs, invents or contrives, a person who plows through an enterprise or brings about a result, especially by skilful or artful contrivances. As a verb, engineer means to contrive or plan out usually with more or less subtle skill or craft; to guide the course of: manage or supervise during management. Interestingly, the English word ‘engineer’ that we are using today is derived from “ingenieur”, a French word which in turn found its origin in yet another old French word “engeigneur”, which means war machine. And all of these words derive from the Latin “genius” meaning, a divine spirit presiding at birth or simply, a natural gift.
